I put this in my morning oatmeal and it was enjoyable. There was a slight grittiness to it but nothing bothersome and the flavor was pretty good.
I usually don't go for plant based protein powders, but seeing that this is soy free and has a fruit and vegetable mix in - it's actually really healthy! I used to use another vegetable powder mix to get some extra vitamins, but it seems this protein shake partially makes up for that. I liked the berry taste and felt good getting protein from somewhere other than animal sources. Good stuff!
(Official Sweepstakes Entry) I mixed this powder with 8oz. of water (as recommended), and it did not mix very well. There was a bunch of powder left on the bottom of the glass after multiple stirs. There was a mixed berry flavor, but it was not that strong and the gritty/grainy texture was not very pleasant. After drinking the product for a while, the 'earthy'/grassy taste from the greens really started to overpower the rest of the drink. Combine this with the already gritty/grainy mouth feel, and the product started to go downhill fast. The powder has an ok amount of protein, but also could have more (around 25g). This powder did nothing to keep my hunger at bay, even with 20g of protein. I do like the fact that this product has 4g of fiber as well as other vitamins and minerals. Overall, due to the taste and texture of this product, I would not purchase it in the future.
Macros are comparable with any other whey protein but slightly lower in protein (20g vs 24g) and has 50 more calories (170 in evolve vs 120 in Optimum), however, this product does have 4g of fiber which is a plus in my opinion. Powder mixed well in 8 oz of water in a shaker bottle. The base flavor was good and tasted exactly like mixed berries, but there was an additional bitter/natural/grassy flavor (like the wheatgrass that some smoothie shops add to smoothies if you have had that) that left an aftertaste. The protein had a gritty/sandy texture. Normally I chug my protein so I prefer protein that has a smooth consistency and that lacks strong flavors, and the texture of this product would not make me want to chug it. I also felt like I could still taste the grassy aftertaste of the protein for a few minutes after, but went down by drinking a lot of water. This may be a good product if you are looking for a vegan alternative to whey protein, but the flavor and texture were too off-putting for me to try and chug it frequently. I also felt full for at least 15 min after drinking the protein. Otherwise this product may also be a good option if you are looking to combine a protein and fiber supplement into one product.
Put it in my smoothie. I typically don't have an issue with other proteins and grittiness when mixed in my smoothie. But I could certainly tell this protein was in there. Berry flavor was ok, grittiness - not ok.
Had to mix with other stuff to get the taste right...prob wouldn’t purchase!
So, I knew going into this that pea protein has a special power... the power of fart so the fact that I woke the dog up with the sounds of my body thunder did not surprise me and since we are in quarantine, it kept us entertained. This mix had the texture of sand and sadly was not pleasant to drink. We appreciate the entertainment value of this product but will not be wanting any more of this.
The flavor was good, a little bitter, but it was nice. My issue with this product was the mixability and the after taste. For me I always use plain water which might have been a mistake, I also just shake it up, no blender, which was probably the second error. I suppose if a juicer or high speed mixer were used and some ice cream then this might be a much better experience.
The taste is not the best, and doesn’t mix very well with water. The macros and other ingredients are great
I tried this protein powder post-workout. I just mixed it with water, and I did not enjoy it at all. I saw on some other reviews that they put the powder in something other than water, such as oatmeal or a smoothie. This is a great idea and I will definitely try this with the other pack I have. One of the problems I had was that it was really chalky no matter how much I tried to shake it up. The flavor was mediocre, but not unbearable by any means. I loved the fact that it was plant-based. I have never had a vegan protein powder before, and I am looking forward to trying the other sample I have, but I will be sure to mix it into a smoothie.
